Inspiring Excellence Through Artistic Performance
Located in Birdville Independent School district in the Fort Worth metroplex, Richland Middle School Band is comprised of 180+ members, serving grades 6th-8th. Members of the band participate in 5 different ensembles: Honors Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Beginning Band, or Jazz Band
At the Richland Middle School Band, we pursue excellence in all areas of music through a variety performance opportunities. Students will learn to achieve success in band class, and gain skills that are transferable to other areas of life.
The directors of Richland Middle School are Katie Binkley, Aleck Olmedo, and Dr. Akira Robles.
Primary Director- Katie Binkley
The Honors Band is the Varsity Ensemble at Richland Middle School. It consists of 7th and 8th grade band students. The Honors Band at RMS has received consistent first division ratings at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest, as well as 2nd runner up in Open Class at North Texas Festival of Distinction.

The Symphonic Band is the Non-Varsity Ensemble at Richland Middle School. It consists of 7th and 8th grade students. In 2025, the Symphonic band at RMS received its first Sweepstakes award in the UIL Concert/ Sightreading contest.

The Concert Band is the Sub-Non Varsity at Richland Middle School. It consists of 7th graders.
Primary Teachers- Katie Binkley, Aleck Olmedo, Akira Robles
The Beginning Band at Richland Middle School is for students who have never played a band instrument. It consists primarily of 6th graders, but can include 7th graders. The Beginning Band at RMS has been named Best in Class at the NRH2O Waterpark Festival.

The Jazz Band at Richland Middle School during the school day as a course as well as once a week after school. It consists of 7th and 8th grade band members who want to explore different genres of music.
